At Embodied Ascent, we respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about the information we collect and how we use it. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who We Are
Our website address is: https://embodied-ascent.com.
Information We Collect
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you’re using it. You can review the Gravatar privacy policy here. Once a comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible alongside it.
Newsletter & Email Communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your name and email address through MailPoet, our email service provider. This information is used only to send you the content you signed up for — mindful tips, coaching resources, and updates about our offerings. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Contact & Booking Forms
When you fill out a contact form or request a discovery call, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and any message or details you share. This is used only to respond to your inquiry and prepare for our conversation, and is not used for any other purpose without your consent.
Scheduling: Discovery calls and sessions are booked through Cal.com, a third-party scheduling service. Booking a call will take you to their platform, which has its own privacy policy governing the information you provide there. We encourage you to review Cal.com’s privacy policy as well.
Session & Coaching Information
If you become a client, information you share with us during sessions — including anything discussed in preparation, session, or integration work — is kept strictly confidential. We do not share details of your sessions with any third party without your explicit written consent, except where required by law (for example, if there is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others).
Please note: we are not a licensed medical or mental health provider, and information shared during coaching is not protected under HIPAA or therapist-client privilege the way it would be with a licensed clinician. If you are working through a diagnosed mental health condition, we encourage you to also work with a licensed therapist or physician — we’re glad to support you alongside that care, not in place of it.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies, for your convenience on future comments. These cookies last one year.
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen option cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes your login cookies.
If you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. It includes no personal data — only the post ID of the article you edited — and expires after one day.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (via MonsterInsights) to understand how visitors use our site — which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and general location and device information. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Embedded Content From Other Websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly — it may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content, including tracking your interaction if you’re logged into an account on that site.
Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
Aside from the third-party services named above (MailPoet, Cal.com, Google Analytics, Gravatar), we do not share your personal information with outside parties except where required by law.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them for moderation.
Client session records and coaching notes are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to support your ongoing work with us, or as required for legal or administrative purposes, after which they are securely deleted.
Your Rights Over Your Data
If you’ve left a comment on this site or provided personal information to us (for example, through a contact form or newsletter signup), you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except where we’re obligated to retain it for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
To make either request, contact us at [your email address].
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet).
A Note on Scope of Practice
Coaching offered through Embodied Ascent — including life coaching, yoga & embodiment work, and expanded states of consciousness coaching — is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment. We do not diagnose or treat any medical or mental health condition.
We do not provide, administer, source, or facilitate access to any substances, including psychedelics or plant medicine, nor do we guide sessions in which such substances are present. Any decisions you make regarding such experiences are your own, made independently through your own informed judgment. Our role is limited to preparation and integration support around experiences you pursue on your own.
If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency services.
